Hi! My name is Bridget and I thought I should tell you a bit about
myself. Here goes…
I was born in Spokane, Washington a LONG time ago 😉! I have a really,
really big extended family. I have 54 first cousins! Can you believe it? In my
free time, I like to read and garden and make things and travel!
I graduated from Gonzaga University with a B.A. in French
Literature. I also have two M.A.s -- one in International Politics and one in
TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have lived and
traveled in many different countries including Ireland, England, France, Spain,
Uganda, Ecuador, and Japan. I have been teaching English for more than 30
years! Wow! My first English teaching job was in Kumamoto, Japan, and later I
taught at MWU for two years. I loved it there!
My husband, James, is also an English teacher. He teaches at
Gonzaga University. He’s a musician, too! He plays flutes and whistles and
uilleann pipes for a band called Floating Crowbar. He is British, but he sounds
really American now.
We have three great kids and all of them live outside of the
United States right now: Ceilan (pronounced ‘keelin’) works in the library at
the University of Leeds in England; Zeke is a software developer and lives in
London; and Fionn (pronounced ‘fin’) works at Refugee Community Kitchen in
Calais, France, where he cooks meals for refugees who are running away from
danger in their home countries.
I am really looking forward to a great semester at Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute!
